Is ZipIt free to use?

Yes. There is no signup, no fee and no premium tier. You can zip as much as you like within the daily quota.

Can ZipIt convert files?

Images, yes: PNG, JPG and WebP, in any direction. Conversion runs in your browser, so those files are never uploaded. Other formats are not supported yet.

How do I convert PNG to JPG?

Open the Convert images tab, add your PNG files, choose JPG and press Convert. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas turn white.

Is WebP better than JPG or PNG?

WebP files are usually smaller at similar quality, and every current browser opens them. Some older programs cannot, so pick JPG or PNG when you need the widest support.

Are my images uploaded when I convert them?

No. Images are converted inside your browser and never leave your device. The server only records how many images were converted, their formats and their sizes, never file names or content.

Are my files stored on your servers?

No. Files you zip are compressed in server memory and discarded once your download finishes.

Which compression levels are supported?

Standard zlib levels 0 (store only) through 9 (maximum). Higher levels give smaller files and take a little longer.

Can I run several jobs at once?

Yes, up to 3 at the same time. Each one downloads on its own.

What are the size limits?

Each job takes up to 50 files and 500 MB. Your quota is 10 GB per rolling 24 hours across all jobs.

What file types can I compress?

Any. Documents, images, video, code and archives all go into a standard ZIP that opens on every major OS.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in your browser: open the site, add files, download the result.

Is this a replacement for WinZip or 7-Zip?

For quick zipping on any device, yes. For very large archives or formats such as 7z and RAR, a desktop tool is still the better choice.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The page is responsive and works in any current mobile browser.

Transfers use HTTPS, zipped files are processed in memory only, and no account or personal data is needed. You can also set a password on the ZIP.
